Best wishes to Dave & Lynne Hill

Chairman Harry Bright would like to pass on his thanks to Dave & Lynne Hill.

Some of you will already be aware that Dave and Lynne have taken the decision to spend most of their time in the sunnier climate of Crete. I would very much like to mark the occasion to place on record the Club’s great appreciation of all the work and commitment that both have given Dartford Cricket Club over the last twenty or so years.

The HillsDave oversaw the running of the bar and the pavilion for many years. This required a great deal of effort never more so than throughout all the complexities of the new pavilion build in 2015/2016.  Dave delivered over and above what could be considered of any loyal club member. Much of this went unnoticed by many which is perhaps typical of Dave’s understated style.

At the same time, Lynne has stood as Finance Officer for the last ten years and executed the role with great commitment and an unstinting focus on attention to detail. Lynne has been an outstanding support to many on Management Committee over that ten-year period. It is very much the case that without Lynne’s particular check and challenge controls, the Club would not be in the condition of relative financial health that it is today.

I am pleased to report that whilst Lynne will be standing down from her responsibilities on the Management Committee, Lynne will continue to maintain our financial records and associated reporting requirements for the foreseeable future.

Dartford Cricket Club clearly owes a debt of gratitude to Dave and Lynne. We wish them well as they start on their new life’s journey waking up under the Mediterranean skyline. Even with rose-tinted glasses, the life in Dartford will struggle to match that experience although I have no doubt that Dave and Lynne will be popping in to see us from time to time over the years ahead.

Best wishes,

Harry Bright
