For those of you that were unable to attend the Club AGM, the Club are delighted to announce that Michelle Slater and Nicola Clark have agreed to co-chair the junior section. They have prepared the following message for all members:
We are excited to co-chair the DCC junior section having both been members of the Club since our eldest sons joined in 2007/2008. Although they are now playing adult cricket, our youngest sons still train and play within the junior section.
Our involvement as “more than just parents” evolved when we set up the Tuck Shop first at Waller Park at U11 home matches and then at Hesketh Park from the old pavilion on club training nights. This extended to Oakfield Park when the Club acquired the ground, providing much needed refreshments at matches and also raising funds for DCC with all profits made going straight back into Club funds.
Moving forward as co-chairs, we feel and hope you agree that the success of adult cricket at Dartford Cricket Club should be built on the foundation of its junior cricket section. Junior cricket is at the heart of Dartford Cricket Club. Our excellent coaching team, led by Head Coach Ed Stanford, is committed to developing junior cricket and ultimately providing a pathway for our young cricketers into playing adult cricket.
Last season we had around 120 boys and girls learning and playing cricket; developing skills and confidence and most importantly enjoying playing the game. Ensuring that every child has a positive cricketing experience is our top priority.
Our goal is to work together to have our junior section recognised as one of the best in Kent: ambitious yes, but we want to aim high!
However, to achieve this what we need from you as a parent is your support and involvement. Our junior section can only thrive with parental involvement and we would urge you to consider taking on some small, not too onerous, role whether it be helping to run a team, help out at one of the tuck shops, assist the coaches, scoring or joining us on the junior committee.
If there is a time to get involved in the junior section, either individually or in conjunction with other parents to share the load, it’s now! We will support you in whatever capacity you can help and make sure that it does not become too big a commitment.
If you want to discuss any of the opportunities for parental involvement, please feel free to contact us by phone/text/email – here are our details:
