This Saturday many of the Club’s older members with good memories will come together at Hesketh Park from midday to join in a celebration in recognition of the outstanding contribution of the late Derek Ufton to Dartford Cricket Club both on and off the field of play.
Derek was an outstanding sportsman of his era and he played a key role In the 250 year celebrations in 1977. Derek was heavily involved in attracting many of the big names in cricket (Fred Trueman etc.,) and entertainment (Eric Morecambe etc.,) at that time to join in the festivities.
Anyone who had the good fortune to come into contact with Derek will have their own fond memories of a great man and we are delighted that Judy and the family will be joining us on the day.
It is also somewhat fitting that the day coincides with a very important game of First XI cricket against St Lawrence and Highland Court, the League Leaders. The Dad’s Army are sponsoring Saturday’s match at the park in memory of Derek.
Both events start at midday so please make a note in your diary. Your support is much appreciated.
