The first club cap presentation took place at signing on day with 22 current players from across the four adult teams receiving recognition for their contribution on the cricket field.
from Garry Cook, Chairman of Cricket Committee
During the winter Club Chairman Jim Lowrie and myself decided that we wanted to provide something for players to aspire to on the cricket field at whatever level they played. We wanted to create something to add to the rich history of the club - be that an outstanding season or consistent achievement over a number of years.
Thus the idea of awarding club caps was born. The aim was to create an object that epitomised what the club was all about. An object that people could be proud of, and that others would strive to attain. The cap embodies the pride an individual has in playing for the club, the passion and loyalty they have in playing for the club and what they have achieved.
A player can achieve a cap for any of the four Saturday league teams and the cap awarded is marked to signify what XI the achievement relates to. The caps are awarded to current playing members and are numbered so each one is unique and a record of caps awarded will be displayed in the bar. The cap is awarded by the club and cannot be bought.
No doubt there will be some who are disappointed that they have not been awarded a cap. Let that disappointment drive you to succeed. There is the plan that they will continue to be awarded and that this will become a regular event and part of the fabric of the club. Congratulations to the first recipients of club cap below;
