As some of you may know or have seen in the latest Club newsletter, 4th June 2012 will be a very special day for one of the club's longest, and still playing, members.
Ian, 'the King, Poolid' Rossiter, will not only be celebrating his 47th birthday that day, but the club will be marking his 35-year (to date) dedication to DCC, and to the game of cricket, with a testimonial match in his honour.
This testimonial day will be as much about what happens off the field as on it, and will be made even more special for Ian and the club by being shared with you – players past, present and future, family and friends. What better way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday, to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, and to marvel at Rossi's unique cricketing attire than to spend it at 'Royal' Hesketh Park!
The match, which will be an all-day game starting at 11.00am, will be against an assorted representative Kent League XI. Much to his wife Angela's dismay, this testimonial match does not mark the end of Ian's cricketing life, but the start of his next 35 years of play.
For those of you who know Ian well, you will know how committed he is to his family and, as such, hopes to see as many of your own family and friends there on the day too. As well as the bar being open throughout the day, the club will also be arranging:
